  • Times, they are a' changin'

Sometimes I wonder what drives me to be such an organizational Nazi. If it weren't for my incessant laziness, I would probably unbearable to live with. I think they even each other out.

Today I'm sitting in my Accounting class not really wanting to do anything. I ignore a few of the in class questions. At the time, it didn't bother me in the least.

    She gives extra ones out.

What was I shooting for, a one-hundred percent?

Any who, it's haunted me the entire day, which just goes to prove that I'm a worrier/perfectionist with a slob's tendencies.

Who knew that Ryan; the kid who never used to clean his room, or do his homework ahead of time, would turn out to be such a perfectionist when it comes to his grades. It's not that it's happened over the entirety of my college career. No, in fact this new situation has hit within this semester.

Maybe I just enjoy my classes more?

Maybe the feeling of almost loosing my chance to go to college has changed my outlook on it. Whatever it is...I like it.

Today I've been focused on change. It seems to have been a theme for this week perhaps. In my Political Sciences class we were discussing how Anxiety, whether it be about loosing one's job or feeling one's freedom's are in jeopardy, will make someone research and look for political information.

I think this is spot on: It wasn't until recently that I really delved deep into the underbelly of the finance world. I never really had to. Everything was payed for and I had a job to cover overhead. It wasn't until the credit crisis that I realized my main funding for college was likely to be cut. (as I'm sure it will be.) So this got me interested in politics, and I follow the news quite religiously. Almost as if I were scared to miss out on something.

    Funny thing anxiety.

Well, I've got a Tomato & Basil Ramen calling my name. It doesn't smell much like tomato or basil...it smells like pizza.

    Hah, wait, I get it.

  • Superbowl Sunday

So if anyone reads blogs today, you'll undoubtedly come upon a Superbowl blog.

Well mine will only have a short tidbit, simply because:

    a) I could care less for any of the teams.

    b) Professional football is uninteresting.

    c) It's hard for me to watch almost three hours of football.

I'm going to my parents house because my father loves football.  Lauren will be coming with me!  Atleast my dad will have someone to talk football with.

haha, yeah thats really odd that I could care less about professional football, and yet my girlfriend is an avid fan.  I just find it way too commercialized.  (Like professional hockey and college football aren't lol)

    _______

Last night I went to a Missouri State basketball game.  We lost by one point.  It really wasn't that good of a game.  However, I've never been to one.

When people sit on the bench, they tend to talk really loud and annunciate words.  Now I can read lips pretty well....so I took the opportunity to watch the opposing side (We were seated really close to them).  Now, not to say Missouri State wasn't saying the same thing but, wow I didn't know these guys were so hostile.

I don't think I'll be playing college basketball anytime soon.

    _______

Well, I wanted to wish everyone a happy Sunday.  I hope this week goes well for you all!

  • Let's Go Blues!

So last night I attended an impromptu St. Louis Blues, hockey game.

It was a blast.  Me and Lauren had the best time.  I yelled so loud that my voice is still a little weak.

We got the tickets from a "scalper" outside.  So all in all we payed $50 for two mezzanine seats and a parking pass.  It was freezing cold when we left.  Lauren has never been to St. Louis before, but it was just to cold to show her around.  St. Louis is such an amazing city.  I really hope one day when it warms up, and there is not two feet of snow on the ground, we can make a day trip.

Well we got our moneys worth, because the game was tied at 0 - 0 and went into overtime.  At the end of the five minute overtime it was still...zero-zero.  So naturally it went into a shootout.  We won the shoot out to win the game, St. Louis Blues one, Anaheim Might Ducks nothing.

We left the Scottrade Center and walked around outside near the library until we couldn't feel our feet anymore.  We then walked back to the car and warmed it up.  It was about midnight at this point and I was so incredibly tired.  Lauren didn't want me driving so naturally we stayed in Rolla only to wake up the this morning and continue onwards to Springfield.

She has an interview today with a dance company so I'll be taking a shower now and hitting the books for a while.

    _______

The job search isn't going so well still.  I'm applying at about three places every Tuesday and Wednesday.

I just want a job.  It's not like i'm not willing to work.  The only thing I will never do again is fastfood.  EVER.

I really would just like to get out of college and into a job field.  However, Lauren keeps reminding me to not count the days but make the days count and I stop wishing for that.  These college times are fleeting and I need to enjoy my insurmountable debt as it comes lol.

    (Oh the wondrous college loan.)

    _______

Well I think I'm off to take a shower and who knows what else.

I want to leave you all with a picture and a thought before I do.

As I said before "Don't count the days; make the days count."  Please don't wish your lives away.  Don't live in a daze until you reach your "destination".  Then those days you've used will just be tally marks on a board.  Its the experiences that make life, not the time.

(Thank you Lauren for your wisdom.)

The picture is of the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.  I have other pictures of the hockey game, if your into that kind of thing, in my album, feel free to check those out!!!  They may seem little but you can zoom in quite a ways (I have a seven megapixel camera):

    Mini Update

    So, classes were not canceled.

I don't know what the theory behind it was to be quite honest.

Only but two weeks ago classes were canceled for a thin, maybe, one-eighths inch of ice.

But when almost five inches of snow roles around they don't even delay classes.

I would like to applaud whoever thought of this idea.

    Class attendance is low.

One of my professors didn't show up.

The snow up to your ankles is miserable.

    My feet are freezing.

Oh, here I go complaining.  It is just today would have been a great day for a nap.

A Snow Day in the Works

So tonight its snowing like I haven't seen in a long time!

Which is the best thing I could ask for at this point.  Quite frankly, no school tomorrow would be a blessing.  I didn't do any homework.  (Well not all of it) So a day off is just what the doctor ordered.

Speaking of doctors, I'm doing a lot better.  I think I may have fought this sickness off.  I felt the onset early this morning but popped back some orange juice like nobodies business and drank a sufficient amount of water.

(What do you know, mom was right, eh?)

    _______

My girlfriend called her mother (who lives in Buffalo, NY) to tell her how classes were canceled for a almost a mere one inch of snow.
"We just don't have the man power or plows to uncover the streets."
"Oh honey, I'm not saying its bad, I just think its hilarious."

Her mother calls us "lightweights." lol

    _______

So this Sunday, Lauren does not...

    repeat....

does not...have rehearsal, so we will be going to a superbowl party at my parents.  My parents are beyond excited.  Especially my dad.  My dad loves Lauren and how she is so enthusiastic about sports.

I'm really glad they like her as much they do.  It makes me feel a lot better about the long distance relationship we've had.

    _______

I saw some exchange students from India playing in the snow tonight.  They were taking pictures and having a ball.

I was thinking about it, and this is probably the first time in their lives they have ever seen snow!  I wonder what that would be like. To see snow for the first time.  To experience something so alien...so foreign.  I grew up around snow so I've always been accustom.

It would be almost like a new world.  Maybe I'm over dramatizing it.

    _______

I have a theory that everyday someone finds something new about themselves.

Whether it is apparent to that person or not.

And today it wasn't apparent to me.  So I have no wise sayings or quips to write.  I really wish I did.  I'm sure I'll make up for it in future posts however. lol

    ______

I had a lot of things I wanted to write about tonight, but as usual I can't think of a thing now.

So in usual fashion if I think of it I will update later tonight.  I appreciate all the comments that were on my past blogs and to a few loyal readers.  I hope to speak with you soon.

    Ciao!

    Also:

Before I go I would like to post a picture of what it looks like outside.  I apologize for the excessive glare, but It was too beautiful to pass up.  I will take some better ones tonight and post them in the morning:
